Jamie Gay

About me

I knew I had an appreciation for design at a young age. I grew up building houses with my dad. He showed how much the details matter to the whole. I've carried that notion with me into every project. I credit my appreciation of form and function to him.

I've built a career on working in ambiguity across different industries and different problems. I started in advertising, led design at the Philadelphia Eagles, rebranded and built packaging for iFixit's tool line, directed photoshoots and video shoots, and led thoughtful digital experiences across Quest Diagnostics, U.S. Bank, Scribe, and Rally UXR. I've often found opportunities outside my main role to influence and contribute to building quality solutions that impact customers, users, and businesses.

Approach to design

I start every project by zooming out to see the whole picture. I want to understand how it connects to the user, the product, and the business before designing anything. Once I have that understanding, I dive into the details by exploring components and patterns, testing with real users, and collaborating on feedback from teammates and stakeholders throughout the process to narrow down and build the best possible solutions.

Approach to life

I try to find time to slow down when everything else is moving fast. Savor the small things in life with my wife and kids. I enjoy sports, being outside, and playing games with my family and friends.
